JOHANNESBURG- Deputy Minister in the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Sdumo Dlamini is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of a Durban hospital after falling sick a few weeks ago.
Those close to the former Cosatu president suspect he could have been poisoned since he was a “very healthy” man but mysteriously fell sick. In 2017, Dlamini, once a close ally of former president Jacob Zuma, survived moves to remove him from his position as Cosatu president after he attended Zuma’s 75th birthday despite his union’s stance that Zuma had to step down. Dlamini later apologized for attending Zuma’s birthday party and making statements that had caused confusion around Cosatu’s calls for Zuma to step down.
He was appointed to his current Cabinet position by President Cyril Ramaphosa after the ANC’s narrow victory in the May 2019 national polls.
This is a developing story…
